The Categories

Drawnotwar (Art for Peace) is open to 'all' visual artists, Illustrators (professional, students, amateurs) who wish to submit a piece of work for inclusion in the little book of Draw Not War. For details of where to send your submissions please use this link.

We are looking for the strongest visual 150 images for inclusion in the book and the categories are:

1) Photographic/Illustration

Calling all photographers that have something to say about the subject of peace and war. We want your conceptual perspective on the world. How it is being shaped, how we educate the next generations. From history to current affairs, we want your view.

Photography is the ideal medium for those that have an ability to say something simply, to view the world in a certain way and to bring a message to those that need to see that war does not work. You might be looking to pursue a journalistic approach to the themes/subjects, if so we want to see your work. The world wants to see your original photographs/montages that say something about the 'terror and horror' of war. Other subjects could be merely symbols of peace and a focus on the true spirit of humanity.

Please note that we are not looking for video material due to the nature of the project, which will be a printed book.

2) Illustration/Art

Calling all Illustrators, both graduates and professionals that have something to say about the subject of 'peace and war'. We want your conceptual perspective on the world, how it is being 'shaped', how do we 'educate' the next generations about the 'horrors of war'. From history to current affairs, we want your view. Illustration is a vital form of visual communication that can be used as a 'tool' to get others to 'see differently'.

Illustration is the ultimate arena of expression for those that are looking to say something, to make others think and to inspire the next generation. If you are a student then this project will be a valid contribution to showcasing your skill, your product and professionalism within a  competitive Illustration industry.

3) Art, Murals & Graffiti (or Photographs of Graffiti)

Calling all artists, no matter what your medium is, we want to see your work. Show us your ideas and how you see the world in relation to the subject of Peace.

We have opened the project to a wider area of imagemakers, because there is so much talent out there that has to have a voice. Show us how you feel about Gaza, Libya, Iraq and any other historical war. Explain to us what peace means to you. 'Be creative'. The power of art can change someone's 'heart and mind'. As Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world'

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL WORK SUBMITTED IN ALL 3 CATERGORIES MUST BE FROM THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER.

WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR SUBMISSIONS FROM AGENTS AND THIRD PARTIES. WE WANT ORIGINAL SUBMISSIONS BY THE ARTIST ONLY. Proof of copyright will be needed for clear inclusion in the book itself.

Note: This website does not encourage illegal graffiti and bears no responsibility for artists who choose to use graffiti and submit work to this website.
